Yoga is...
a science of awareness. The practice gives the space to become aware and bring balance, harmony and ease to the body and mind.
It's important to make the space for yourself every day in your life, physically as well as mentally. In taking a few minutes at the beginning and end of every day to tune in to what it is your body and mind need, you are making space. If in the morning, you take a few minutes to tune in quietly to what it is you need that day you are making space. In taking the time in the evening to take a few minutes to be aware of how your day unfolded and what it was during that day that provided wellness for you, you are making space. When you do this, you are giving yourself the opportunity to become aware, and in that awareness you are able to provide for yourself physically and mentally. Both the mind and the body need to be at ease, for wellness and to thrive.
Yoga is a way of living. As you tune in to what the mind and body need, it becomes natural to incorporate it into your life. Waking to yoga postures and yogic breathing for a few minutes every day provides strength and nourishment to the body. Physically you are taking care or yourself. Then take a few minutes to sit quietly to give the mind a break. Raise your awareness by allowing that quiet space to give you what you need mentally. It’s a very simple process. In the simplicity is where you learn to be rather than to try to become. This allows your innate nature to blossom.
Yoga is love. As the process of the practice evolves and you tune in to being rather than becoming, what you find in your essence is love. Love is at the core of all of us. It is what we all have in common, no matter what language we speak, what religion we practice or where in the world we live. We learn to accept rather than expect.
This process can begin at any time. You may decide to begin tonight or tomorrow, or the day after. The truth of the matter is, it will happen when it’s supposed to happen. It’s a beautiful evolution.
Namaste-the light, which shines in me, is the same light, which shines in you.
